Fashion Week Street Style: What I Would Have Worn to London Fashion Week

Here’s the second installment of my Fashion Week-inspired outfit posts. Today: what I would have worn in London:

IMG_0840

IMG_0859American Apparel oversized button-down, LNA slip dress, Reiss hat, Jeffrey Campbell ‘Stoppard’ shoes, and Loeffler Randall ‘Mini Agenda’ bag, and men’s socks from CVS.

When I think of London, I think of updated, androgynous takes on the school-girl look, and this is my rendition of that uniform (with a hint of Wednesday Addams). Vertical stripes will elongate you, and a classic shirtdress never goes out of style. My favorite hat, which happens to be by one of my favorite British brands, brings the outfit to life. And If you’re looking for socks like this to complete your own outfit, look no further than your local pharmacy.

Kurt & Britney?

Annie outfit 3 #3

Annie 21American Apparel mohair cardigan, vintage Versace Jeans Couture tee, plaid skirt from LF Stores, Wolford tights, Tod’s boots, Chanel shades.

Though Kurt Cobain’s grunge following and Britney Spears’ “Hit Me, Baby, One More Time” video were totally separate phenomena in the ’90s (Kurt died five years before Britney debuted the video that inspired slutty school-girl costumes for years to come…not to mention he kind of died to avoid everything Britney Spears represents culturally), the current ’90s revival has caused many trends from that epic era to mesh with each other. Kurt probably wouldn’t have been fond of Britney (or the word trend), but his penchant for oversized sweaters and thrifty tees and Britney’s iconic plaid mini skirt happen to work very well together.annie outfit 3 #4Who says I can’t get a little Marilyn in there, too?
