I’ve seen a bunch of bloggers and designers rocking fishnets on Instagram lately, and I’ve just been hardcore copycatting on the regular. These exaggerated-diamond fishnets are actually super hard to put on, but I love the look. (Beauty is spending ten minutes cursing your toes and toppling off your vanity stool, right?) Letting your fishnets peek out from jeans is a badass way to spice up your denim game, and pairing them with soft pastel colors creates eye-catching contrast, which I’m very into right now. Punk + pink is a wise way to toughen up your favorite color this winter.

To say that I love denim is an understatement, so I’m always on the hunt for unique takes on the human race’s favorite textile. This embellished denim jacket and my paint-splattered jeans are both repurposed, vintage Levi’s pieces, given new life with fun details subtle enough to work together in this look. I reworked these jeans even further by cutting them myself—perhaps a bit uneven and a touch too short, but hey, culottes and raw hems are on fire right now. I added these fur sandals and my blush bag to soften the look of oversized denim on oversized denim, as well as pick up on the paint colors. Obviously you could pull off a similar ensemble with a more “practical” shoe, but I think the fuzzy-sandal trend makes for such a sweet statement to amp up your fall/winter style. (Also, these bad boys are adorned with real rabbit fur, and apparently you can just take a blow dryer to ’em if they get a little wet in winter weather. For some reason I found it hilarious when the Michael Kors sales associate said this to me.) My new eyeglasses, which are actually just Ray-Ban sunglasses with the original lenses popped out and my prescription popped in, so far seem to go with just about anything, dressy or casual. Quirky and retro but delicate, they bring a little extra something special without dominating the look.

As I stated in my Globe interview, I’ve been drawing a lot of summer inspiration from the wardrobe in the 1992 movie White Men Can’t Jump. I love the sort of West coast-cool, sporty-grunge vibe. This vintage Mickey Mouse top, cut much like a basketball jersey, oversized denim and platform sneakers make just one of my many outfits ideas that have stemmed from this classic flick. (I may or may not have recently purchased tie-dye mom jeans…) The red lips and pussy purse add a fun, feminine touch.
