An old photo of my one-year-old self that I recently posted on Instagram for a weekly #tbt inspired me to bring back my first signature hairstyle, which my dad called “the Pebbles.” I think it speaks for itself, unless you’ve been living under a rock (—Flintstones pun entirely intended). In honor of my first years on Earth, I decided to go with a head-to-toe 90s-inspired look to accompany this ‘do: a neutral cropped blouse, classic mom jeans, and offbeat yet minimalist accessories.

The long weekend has come to and end, but MDW is the official kickoff for summer, and so it’s time to start thinking about your off-duty summer style. When it comes to dressing for summer weekends, it’s all about creating outfits that look both relaxed and refined. I give my flowing, vintage floral maxi dress a stylish kick with my sleek, silver choker and structured Alexander Wang ‘Marion’ bag. You can spice up casual summer staples, like graphic tanks and cutoffs, with a bold lip color and dressier boots. Look for comfortable classics with a sophisticated twist, like the mesh overlay on my oversized, pastel sweater, or minimalist sandals in luxe patent-leather. And try fun, wide-brimmed hats for extra flair (and sun protection).

Tie dye and color-dyed denim are both summer classics. Bring them together with a monochromatic color scheme, and add sleek accessories for the perfect summer ensemble.

Palazzo Pants Party

Dresses and skirts aren’t the only clothes made for twirling. Palazzo pants, a boho staple, are basically maxi skirts in which you can perform high kicks, and that’s pretty cool. Dress them up a bit with a pair of wedges or flatforms, or rock them at a music festival with cushy sandals.

Nasty Gals do it Better at SoWa

Today was the first truly hot day in Boston this year, so I had to check out the SoWa Vintage Market…and of course came out with my first sunburn of the season.

Lightweight jumpsuits (and rompers) are not only a comfortable and chic summer staple, but they also essentially eliminate the need to over think your outfit. Just choose occasion-appropriate shoes/accessories, and you’re good to go. For day, I love a ’90s-inspired sandal, like these Jeffrey Campbell slides, or a classic Birkenstock. Sleek silver accents are best with blue and black, and I found this awesome choker while browsing the market. That’s the beauty (and the horror) of SoWa: I always leave wearing something new. Learn more about the SoWa Vintage Market here.

I don’t want to jinx it, but it seems like Spring may actually be gracing us with its presence here in Boston. This of course calls for bright colors, giant sunglasses, and frequent frolicking among the flowers.
