I love metallic accessories, because they can be taken in so many different directions. This silver Furla cross body adds excitement to and flows seamlessly from sleek, dressy outfits, to more casual, grungy looks. I love the element of luxury it brings to this 90s-inspired ensemble, and its futuristic, reflective finish makes it all a little extra terrestrial. Perhaps most importantly, this dainty bag actually has a surprisingly spacious interior, which makes it easy to transition from day to night, for almost any occasion.

Daring to have multi-colored hair has definitely motivated me to get a little more adventurous with my hair styles, as well. My mother thinks this ‘do makes me “look like a lamp,” but I think it’s spunky. Plus, I love lamp.

360My dad—the birthday boy, a sharp dresser, and the best dancer I know!

My lifestyle almost exclusively caters to casual street style. I don’t work in an office, and my friends and I typically opt for dive bars. Or couch. That being said, any girl who keeps up with celebrity red carpet looks imagines what she herself would wear to events like the MET Gala, the Golden Globes, or the Grammy’s. When my mother decided to throw a surprise birthday party for my dad, I decided to explore my personal red carpet fantasies. Sister brands Sandro and Maje have been my go-to party attire labels for the past year, so I made the Maje shop on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida the first stop on my dress hunt—and the last. As soon as I laid eyes on the “Edivas” dress, I fell in love with the vibrant color and unconventional structured mesh.

When I contemplated possible shoes to pair with the dress, I initially thought of white or silver. But when I saw these iridescent Jimmy Choo pumps in almost the exact same shade of orange as my dress, I knew I couldn’t deny fashion fate. Then I proceeded to spend months daydreaming about the outfit, and struggling with the stress of keeping the party itself a secret. I topped off the look with a few elegant yet edgy accessories, and went with plain white nails and understated makeup. And that incredible ensemble on my sister? She bought it the day of the party. The fact that our manicures matched each other’s outfits was purely accidental. (Again: much fashion fate).

Not only has photographer Mark Karlsberg of Studio Eleven Photography won multiple awards, including Best Candid Album in Massachusetts and New England from the Professional Photographers of New England Association, but he also photographed my parents’ wedding, as well as mine and my siblings’ respective Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. However, this was the first family event at which he stepped in for the lead singer of the band. Mind blown! If you’re looking for an event photographer who can also sing a killer rendition of “Brown-Eyed Girl,” then Mark Karlsberg’s your guy.

The long weekend has come to and end, but MDW is the official kickoff for summer, and so it’s time to start thinking about your off-duty summer style. When it comes to dressing for summer weekends, it’s all about creating outfits that look both relaxed and refined. I give my flowing, vintage floral maxi dress a stylish kick with my sleek, silver choker and structured Alexander Wang ‘Marion’ bag. You can spice up casual summer staples, like graphic tanks and cutoffs, with a bold lip color and dressier boots. Look for comfortable classics with a sophisticated twist, like the mesh overlay on my oversized, pastel sweater, or minimalist sandals in luxe patent-leather. And try fun, wide-brimmed hats for extra flair (and sun protection).

Funny Face

Audrey Hepburn was and will always be a film and fashion legend. While plenty of people are familiar with her iconic outfits in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Sabrina, I’m shocked by how few people have seen Funny Face (1957), a quirky musical all about embracing one’s unique beauty, and how fashion can be just as much about self-expression and self-discovery as it is about appearances. Audrey Hepburn plays a stubborn bookworm swept into the world of fashion modeling (and a romance with Fred Astaire), so she wears countless incredible outfits throughout the movie. But my favorite of all the ensembles in Funny Face is perhaps also the simplest—a black turtleneck, black pants, and black flats with white socks:funny face 1If you follow fashion at all, you’ve noticed that rich shades of burgundy and bordeaux are featured in almost every current fall collection. For my take on Audrey’s Funny Face look, I’ve swapped her black turtleneck for a vintage burgundy piece:1Q1A5435This oversized cashmere turtleneck is actually reversible: if I turn it inside-out, I’ve got a coffee-colored sweater!1Q1A5438My J-Brand skinny neoprene pants are great for jumping and dancing just like Audrey. Did you know she wanted to be a ballerina before she ever even considered acting?

1Q1A5407I maintain Audrey’s classic flair with these white Kate Spade socks, and my cat-faced slippers from LF Stores give the outfit a modern twist.Audrey Hepburn.Audrey’s bold brows and lips are my ideal makeup statements. I use the Benefit Instant Brow Pencil & Brow Zings Shaping Kit and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in “Damned” to get the look:1Q1A5400 - Version 2Oversized sweaters/sweater-dresses make it easy to stay warm, comfortable, and cute throughout fall and winter. Here’s a similar look to my Audrey-inspired outfit, featuring a fair isle-printed sweater-dress from LF Stores, Wolford tights, and brown Miz Mooz oxfords:1Q1A5460

1Q1A5452The brown oxfords bring a little warmth to the black and white.1Q1A5461 I got this antique locket at a vintage store in Hanover, New Hampshire that sadly no longer exists.1Q1A5463Wish I knew the story behind the portraits in the locket! But have you heard that Essie makes gel polish now? Very exciting stuff. Given my current obsession with burgundy, I decided to go with this color, “Moody Mood.” I’m loving it.

Halloween #tbt Week 3:

Katy Perry

jeffrey-campbell-shoes-multi-the-fruit-bowl-shoe-in-multi-product-1-1433072-966955517_large_flexI had a Teenage Dream Halloween in 2011: I channelled Katy’s signature wacky style with my Lazy Oaf watermelon skirt, lacy bralette from LF Stores, and Jeffrey Campbell’s awesome Fruit Bowl shoes. You can get the purple wig at any traditional party/costume store, and the floral hair piece is from a stand in the Copley Place Mall. I used Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in “Satin Fuchsia,” and Essie’s “Turquoise & Caicos” and “Pink Parka” nail polish. And yes, I have worn all of these items (apart from the wig) on occasions other than Halloween, thank you very much.PicFrame-1

Printed Pants, Ready to Dance

1Q1A3300When it comes to wearing a loud statement piece, I believe in keeping the rest simple. I also think comfort is key for a fun night out. Here I am in my Sandro printed high-waist pants, paired with an American Apparel spandex crop top to create an evening look that’s bold without being too bizarre, and comfortable without compromising cuteness.1Q1A3302They say beauty is pain, but I’m pretty relieved that towering heels are fading out of the fashion scene. Who wants to stomp Boston’s bricks and cobblestones in stilts? These sleek Jeffrey Campbell sandals with a low lucite heel are fun and easy on my feet (and at least one guy asks me if I’ve got a gold fish in there every time I wear them). I guess it’s time to address the fact that almost all my shoes are by Jeffrey Campbell…Fuck diamonds—JC is a girl’s best friend.1Q1A3293 - Version 2
