I’ve seen a bunch of bloggers and designers rocking fishnets on Instagram lately, and I’ve just been hardcore copycatting on the regular. These exaggerated-diamond fishnets are actually super hard to put on, but I love the look. (Beauty is spending ten minutes cursing your toes and toppling off your vanity stool, right?) Letting your fishnets peek out from jeans is a badass way to spice up your denim game, and pairing them with soft pastel colors creates eye-catching contrast, which I’m very into right now. Punk + pink is a wise way to toughen up your favorite color this winter.

With every outfit post, I like to explain what makes each look “work,” and hopefully include tips on how you can tweak certain aspects of each outfit to fit your unique lifestyle, or simply diversify your style. This outfit is a response to my own recent advice. An embellished jacket paired with a feminine pleated midi-skirt is a reliably chic combination, but finishing the look with a pair of sleek sneakers creates the ultimate cool-girl contrast. It’s 2017, and any outfit can be your power suit. Allowing pieces you might consider girly or dressy to dabble in athleisure is a great way to express your feminism with fashion. Your style doesn’t need to fit neatly into a box, and neither do you.

This floral moto jacket is a fun departure from the ubiquitous bomber jackets, and the embroidery has been done in neutral enough colors to make this my go-to jacket of the season. Plus, it’s made from vegan leather and runs at a pretty affordable price. I’d strongly recommend it as a gift this holiday season!
