Random romper from a store in Hanover, New Hampshire layered over an Emma & Sam cropped tee, AllSaints ‘Belvedere’ moto jacket, Sandro ‘Aida’ mini cross body bag, Furla pom pom, ‘Luke’ lace-up boots from Urban Outfitters.
I actually don’t even know who makes this romper, but it has served me well since 2011, and it’s lending itself quite nicely to a current layering trend. Anything with a camisole-like bodice (think slip dresses and, you know, camisoles) look rad and very ’90s over a little white tee, and you can just throw on a leather jacket to bring the popular look right into this Fall-transition season. The layered necklines create a nice palette for layering jewelry, as well, like my thick velvet choker and nameplate necklace. I suspect chokers are here to stay for the next couple of seasons, so if you haven’t tried the trend yet, maybe it’s time to experiment a bit. I think these menswear-inspired boots, which fall somewhere in between polished and grunge, make for an outfit that would shift easily from daytime errands to drinks at the bar, but you could also swap in a sexier pair of heeled sandals, or perhaps even some lace-up thigh-highs for a dressier and more feminine getup. Though it isn’t quite cold yet, a fuzzy accessory or two will bring Fall into focus.
