American Apparel’s Disco Pants (which now come in a variety of dazzling colors) are reminiscent of Sandy’s iconic pants in the final scene of Grease—in fact, they’re probably the go-to pants for a solid Sandy Halloween costume. They’re tight, they’re shiny, and they’re the kind of item that often prompts the question, “But when will you really where those?” Counter-question: what’s impractical about black, high-waisted pants? Though friends guessed these pants might sit in my drawers, they’re surprisingly versatile, and not-so-surprisingly fun.For a daytime look, I pair my disco pants with this Dolce Vita cropped knit sweater with quilted leather elbow patches (I meant it when I said I love my crop tops), add a few sleek accessories, and top it off with Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in “Dragon Girl.”
Leather. Lipstick. I guess I’d call this my 2013 take on Sandy’s bad-girl transformation. Cropped tank with faux leather & mesh embellishment from LF Stores, Le Specs sunglasses, YSL Rouge Volupté Shine lipstick in “Fuchsia in Rage” with YSL Shimmering Lip Gloss in “White Gold Topaz.”A higher shoe would dress this outfit up even more, but I’m not the best at walking in pumps, and the ombre lucite heel emphasizes the futuristic feel of the outfit. To avoid any awkward thong/underwear lines with pants like these, try American Apparel’s Invisi-Thong. The name says it all.
